Who we are

The Auxiliary of the Montreal General Hospital

  • Is made up of volunteers who donate their time, expertise, and experience to fundraising for the hospital and its patients.

  • Is a “Not-For-Profit” organization. “Surplus” funds are given to the Montreal General Hospital, as well as to several smaller, and local, charities.

  • Donates time on a weekly basis to working in The Auxiliary’s operations, as well as in hospital departments and clinics.

  • Is composed of an Executive and a Board of Directors. The Executive consists of a president, a past-president, two vice presidents, a secretary, a treasurer, and an assistant-treasurer. The Executive’s role is to manage operations and to steer and support volunteers in the planning and management of fundraising events. The Board consists of all members of the Executive, as well as of a number of active Auxiliary members who are involved in the planning and management of events.

  • Was formed in 1947 and has been active since. It is noteworthy that three members (current and past) of the MGH Auxiliary have won the prestigious Governor General’s award for meritorious volunteering. This is the highest recognition given to volunteers in Canada.
